The memorial sign for my grandmother and uncle was not ready in time for the opening ceremony. While I was disappointed at the time, I was assured that it would be made and put up shortly. I am glad to see it now resides over the primary school that we built.
My grandmother, Muyleng, was a Mandarin and French professor at Phnom Penh University when the Khmer rouge came to power. She was killed for being an educator. My uncle, Sokra, was only a child when he died in the countryside during the genocide. It fills me with great joy that I can pay homage to their memory with this school.
